Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead Earns LEED Silver

 In Development, Energy

Sustainability and Southern hospitality now go hand in hand at Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead, which has earned LEED Silver certification following a multi-year, multi-million-dollar renovation. The designation, awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council, recognizes the hotel’s long-term commitment to environmental responsibility, sustainable operations, and guest well-being.

The certification reflects a comprehensive renovation that touched nearly every aspect of the property. Over several phases, the hotel introduced 439 redesigned guestrooms and suites that balance contemporary comfort with energy-efficient systems, water-saving fixtures, and healthier indoor environments. Sustainable materials and improved indoor air quality were prioritized throughout the project, reinforcing a holistic approach to responsible hospitality rather than a single-point upgrade.

Public spaces were also fully reimagined as part of the transformation. The reconceptualized lobby now welcomes guests with a modernized front desk and The Fabled, a signature lounge inspired by storytelling and anchored by a dramatic three-story waterfall that brings a sense of calm and place into the heart of the hotel. A new 24-hour market was added as well, spotlighting local and Black-owned businesses and strengthening the hotel’s connection to the Buckhead community and Atlanta’s creative economy.

LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the world’s most widely used green building rating system and a globally recognized benchmark for sustainable design and operations. Achieving LEED Silver verifies that the hotel meets stringent standards across energy efficiency, water conservation, indoor environmental quality, sustainable materials, and site development. For guests, meeting planners, and corporate travelers, it signals that sustainability is embedded into daily operations and long-term decision-making.

Beyond its environmental achievements, Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead remains one of the district’s most prominent hospitality anchors. Positioned at the gateway to Buckhead, the hotel offers convenient access to Lenox Square, Phipps Plaza, nearby MARTA stations, and the area’s dining and business destinations. With expansive meeting and event space, on-site dining and lounges, and serene design elements woven throughout the property, it continues to serve as a hub for visitors, conferences, and local gatherings.

Earning LEED Silver places Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead among a growing group of hotels helping set a higher standard for sustainable hospitality in Atlanta. It demonstrates how large-scale renovations can reduce environmental impact while enhancing guest experience, supporting local businesses, and contributing to the long-term resilience of one of the city’s most active districts.
