Planning Manager

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Planning Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing various transportation, land use and arts and culture projects and recommending improvements to support the district’s goals for enhanced walkability and use of non-vehicular travel and sense of place.

RESPONSIBILITIES

•Transportation Demand Management Program – Oversee the development and implementation of demand management strategies that reduce single occupant vehicles into and within the community.

•Community Planning Efforts – Identify needs for, seek funding for and lead community planning efforts in conjunction with executive team, local partners and consultant teams.

•Development Project Analysis – Review and track proposed developments to analyze transportation impacts and identify site changes necessary to achieve district goals of walkability and alternative mode use.

•Develop, Deploy and Manage – ongoing and new mobility, land use and arts and culture projects.

•Secure funding – Liaise with City of Atlanta, ARC, ATL, MARTA and GDOT to program projects and secure city, state and federal funding.

•Thought Leadership – Develop innovative projects and policies that support district goals and position the community as a progressive leader in mobility.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal applicant will have the following qualifications:

•High degree of initiative and self-direction

•Demonstrated technical transportation and planning analysis skills

•Proven knowledge of local, regional and federal funding structures

•Expertise with transportation and land use interconnectivity

•Proven project management skills

•Established network of relationships in industry

•Deep expertise in GIS and other data analysis tools/ability to locate and integrate multiple data sets for analysis

•Positive “can do” attitude and strong sense of humor

•Demonstrated ability to think strategically

•Excellent written communication, interpersonal communication and oral communication skills

•Strong ability to participate in public speaking events

•Excellent research and organizational skills

•Sincere interest in the organization’s areas of focus

•Sound judgment and commitment to ethical behavior

DETAILS

Education Requirements:

Master’s degree in planning or civil engineering or equivalent prior experience

Required Skill sets: Strong GIS, project management, excellent written and verbal communication skills, policy analysis skills, strong research skills

Key Attributes: Self-starter who needs minimal oversight, outgoing and persuasive, excels at data analysis and reporting, able to work as part of a small team

Employment Type: Full-Time, professional

Salary Range: $50,000 – $70,000
