Committees and Councils

These councils and committees are helping us create a culture of sustainability in Buckhead by meeting regularly to share ideas and best practices, then implementing innovative programs within their own organizations.

Sustainability Committee

Livable Buckhead and more than 30 leaders have collaborated to create a sustainability action plan for Buckhead, developing a hyperlocal course of action to improve sustainability. The Sustainability Committee helps guide Livable Buckhead’s sustainability programs and sets achievable goals for the Buckhead community from our program areas which include: Mobility, Public Safety, Greenspace, Waste, Energy, Arts & Culture, Health & Wellness, Water, and Culture of Sustainability.

The committee is open to the public to serve on and reports to the Livable Buckhead Board of Directors. This committee meets on a quarterly basis.

Buckhead Events & Marketing Council

Livable Buckhead’s newest community council is dedicated to developing community-wide events and programming for Buckhead. The council is comprised of  key representatives of the businesses and organizations that make up Buckhead, who’s active involvement bring value not only to participating businesses but also to the council and community. This council is hosted monthly in-person.

The primary goals of the Buckhead Events and Marketing Council include:

  1. Developing Buckhead-wide events and programming through collaboration with community businesses and partners.
  2. Providing networking and business development opportunities for marketing professionals in Buckhead.
  3. Keeping members informed of the latest strategies and tools in multiple areas of marketing and events.
  4. Providing a platform to increase the impact of individual events and marketing through leveraged partnerships.

Commercial Property Managers’ Committee

Commercial properties in Buckhead play a huge role in sustainability efforts. From energy and water consumption to EV charging to influence over occupant commutes to land-use imprint, Buckhead commercial properties are leading the way in Atlanta. More than 19-million square feet of commercial buildings participated in the Atlanta Better Building Challenge, the goal which was to reduce energy and water consumption by 20% by 2020… goals exceeded earlier than planned.

The committee is open to the Buckhead commercial property management team members to serve on and reports to the Livable Buckhead Board of Directors. This committee meets every other month and includes networking.

Human Resources Council

Livable Buckhead’s Human Resources Council gathers Buckhead’s leading HR executives to share knowledge, hear from captivating speakers and gain insights for facing their most pressing professional challenges. Formerly known as our Employer Council, we shifted the council to address Buckhead employers’ human resources needs, providing valuable resources to create successful hybrid workplaces, increase employee engagement and more.
This council meets quarterly and entails expert speakers and panels, networking opportunities, and community impact updates. It is open to all HR executives based in Buckhead or who have a close connection to the community.

Security Council

Public safety and security are top of mind in Buckhead. A safe community creates a sustainable community. Commercial properties account for much of Buckhead’s commercial core, and have an important role to play in public safety. The purpose of this committee is to help facilitate conversations across properties and improve communication between security personnel. Meetings include updates from Atlanta Police Zone 2 and other law enforcement agencies, as well as discussions about challenges individual properties may be experiencing.

The council is open to commercial property security personnel to serve on and meets every other month.

Membership Committee

Greenspace. Mobility. Arts & Culture. Health & Wellness. Energy. Water. Waste. Livable Buckhead is working hard to help Buckhead embrace a culture of sustainability. Members of Livable Buckhead are committed to sustainability and to their community. Whether they are interested in helping Livable Buckhead improve water quality or transit access through our programs, or volunteer for community beautification projects aimed at increasing the vibrancy of Buckhead, our members support the work of Livable Buckhead.

The committee is open to the public to serve on and reports to the Livable Buckhead Board of Directors. This committee meets on an ad hoc basis and is tasked with improving the membership experience and growing our base of support.

Engineer’s Council

With more than 21.7 million square feet of office space (16.8 million SF of which is class A), the Buckhead office market is Atlanta’s foremost business district. In Buckhead, the commercial building engineer is responsible for all aspects of building maintenance and repair while performing first-class customer service and demonstrating a commitment to sustainable and strategic energy. Livable Buckhead’s goal is to help engineers stay on the cutting edge of sustainable building environmental management by offering education opportunities through industry leaders and a chance to meet and network with fellow professionals in Buckhead.

The council is open to Buckhead commercial property engineer’s to serve on and provides information vital for Buckhead engineers, and also serves as networking opportunity. The council meets on an ad hoc basis.
