Buckhead Mobility Projects Update
Several major transportation and streetscape projects across Buckhead are reaching important milestones. Together, these investments are improving safety, connectivity, and everyday mobility for residents, workers, and visitors.
Lenox Boardwalk Nearly Complete
The Lenox Boardwalk, part of the Lenox Road Complete and Safe Street project, is now substantially complete and open for use. This new 10 to 12 foot wide multiuse trail creates a safer and more accessible connection between the Lenox MARTA station, Lenox Square, and Phipps Plaza. Serving one of Buckhead’s most active corridors, the boardwalk strengthens walkability and makes it easier to move between shopping, transit, and nearby destinations just in time for the busy holiday season. A recently released flyover video highlights the progress and scale of this new community asset.
Wieuca Road at Phipps Boulevard Roundabout
The Wieuca Road at Phipps Boulevard Roundabout, the first multi lane roundabout in the City of Atlanta, is also substantially complete. Designed to improve traffic flow and enhance safety for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians, the roundabout addresses one of Buckhead’s busiest intersections. The 85 foot wide central island will be landscaped in March to add greenery and visual interest. Plans are underway for an April ribbon cutting and a dedication ceremony honoring former Atlanta City Councilmember Howard Shook and his lasting impact on Buckhead.

Work Continues on Piedmont Road Complete Street Project
Construction remains active along Piedmont Road as the Complete Street project moves forward. This long term effort will improve pedestrian and bicycle facilities while expanding the roadway to better manage traffic flow. Work is expected to continue into 2026, with a planned pause during the summer months to accommodate increased activity related to the FIFA World Cup and higher visitor volumes across Buckhead and the metro Atlanta region.

Lenox Road Complete Street Section III Update
Planning and fundraising continue for Lenox Road Complete Street Section III, with a goal of securing full construction funding by December 2026. Design work is well underway, and construction is anticipated to begin in March 2027. This section will focus on Lenox Road between Phipps Boulevard and Piedmont Road and includes a major improvement at the Lenox Road and GA 400 interchange. A key feature is an elevated pedestrian and bicycle bridge connecting to PATH400, which will also serve as the future gateway to HUB404 and strengthen regional trail connectivity.

Together, these projects reflect steady progress toward a safer, more connected, and more accessible Buckhead, with benefits that extend well beyond individual corridors.
