Buckhead’s Big Connection: Beltline Link to PATH400 Moves Closer to Reality

 In Community, Greenspace, PATH400

It’s been years in the making, but the dream of walking or biking seamlessly from Buckhead to the Atlanta BeltLine is finally within reach. Federal funding is still intact for one of the BeltLine’s most complicated and most exciting trail projects: the Northeast Trail Segment 3, which will directly connect PATH400 to the BeltLine near Lindbergh. Stretching 2.4 miles from Buford Highway to MARTA’s Lindbergh Station, this segment will create a continuous route through the Armour Ottley commercial district and into PATH400, giving Buckhead residents, commuters, and visitors a smooth, scenic way to reach destinations across Atlanta without ever getting in a car.

The $25 million RAISE grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation, the largest in BeltLine history, will help fund this transformative section. It’s a complex build, requiring bridges over Peachtree Creek and multiple active rail lines, but with final approvals from GDOT and the federal government expected soon, the BeltLine plans to put the project out to bid by the end of 2025 and break ground in mid 2026. Once complete, this connection will make PATH400 a true north gateway to the BeltLine, linking Buckhead’s growing trail network to the 22 mile loop that ties together dozens of Atlanta neighborhoods. For everyone who lives, works, or plays in Buckhead, it’s a massive step toward a more connected, car optional future.

Construction will take time, roughly three and a half years once it begins, but the groundwork is done. The real estate is secured. The designs are finalized. And the vision is clear, a walkable, bikeable link that unites Buckhead’s PATH400 with the BeltLine and beyond.

At Livable Buckhead, we’ve believed in this connection from the start. PATH400 was always about being part of something bigger, and soon, that “something bigger” will stretch all the way around the city. To learn more about PATH400 and how you can support its continued growth, visit path400greenway.org or make a donation at livablebuckhead.com/donate.
