SR 400 Express Lanes Project Celebration on April 22
Transportation leaders from across the country will gather on April 22 from 10am – 12:30pm in Alpharetta to mark a major milestone for Georgia’s future mobility.
True North 400, in partnership with the Georgia Department of Transportation, will host a ceremonial groundbreaking celebration for the State Route (SR) 400 Express Lanes project—officially kicking off what is being called the largest transportation investment in Georgia history.
The event will take place on the rooftop of the Avalon Parking Deck (10000 Avalon Blvd. Alpharetta, GA 30009) overlooking the SR 400 corridor where construction is already underway. Attendees will hear from federal, state, and regional leaders on the significance of the project and its long-term impact on mobility across metro Atlanta. Speakers include representatives from the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration, Georgia DOT, and regional partners, highlighting the scale and collaboration behind this effort.

About the Project
The SR 400 Express Lanes project is a multi-billion-dollar investment designed to improve travel along one of the region’s most critical corridors.
Regional Investment with Local Impact
The SR 400 Express Lanes will be part of the larger Georgia Express Lanes Network, connecting more communities across the region and helping motorists and transit riders enjoy more reliable and predictable trip times.
In addition to improving roadway travel, the project also supports transit expansion. Express Lanes Transit (ELT) will introduce dedicated stations for Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service along the SR 400 corridor, operated by MARTA. Service will begin at the North Springs station, with direct connections at Holcomb Bridge Road, North Point Mall, and the Windward Park and Ride—expanding access and more consistent travel options for commuters.
