Waste
Livable Buckhead is building a bridge for valuable commodities in the waste stream to feed economic development in the City of Atlanta, State of Georgia, and Southeast region.
Livable Buckhead began to offer a coordinated option for commercial buildings to recycle through its Buckhead Recycles program in 2015. When we refer to waste, we are referring to the opportunity to reduce the amount of waste that is ultimately sent to landfill. Recycling in Buckhead, like in all other communities, is beneficial environmentally, socially, and economically.
Livable Buckhead is working to increase diversion rates to 50% and reduce our average contamination rate to below 20% across our participating Buckhead Recycles portfolio by 2021. Additionally, we aim to create a point source for information and resources for hard to recycle materials by helping to establish and promote a CHaRM North location, developing a recycling guide for construction and renovation activities, and delivering a solution for glass recycling in the short term.
