Driving Transit Forward: What MARTA Improvements Mean for Buckhead Commuters

As Atlanta continues to evolve as a dynamic business hub, the critical role of efficient, modern transit infrastructure has never been more apparent. For employers and commuters in Buckhead, the enhancements underway within MARTA offer a strategic advantage: improving workforce access, reducing reliance on single-occupancy vehicles, and supporting a resilient regional economy.

This update outlines the major improvements underway, especially at the downtown hub at the Five Points Station, what they mean for Buckhead commuters, and how our local employers can leverage transit via Livable Buckhead’s discounted transit pass program.

Five Points Station Transformation:

The Five Points Station MARTA’s central hub for rail and bus transfers is undergoing a multi-year transformation designed to modernize facilities, enhance safety, and improve connectivity.

Current Updates:

  • Phase One started in May 2025, focused on deconstructing the concrete canopy and preparing the site for new design.

  • As of October 13, 2025, the Peachtree Street entrance has been closed. Barriers and signage now direct riders to the Forsyth Street entrance only.

  • Bus boarding has been rerouted to Forsyth Street; other entrances remain closed.

  • All elevators are operational and train schedules remain unchanged.

  • Project completion is expected in late 2028–2029.
