Recommendations Regarding Variations:
No variations anticipated
Recommended Changes/Considerations:
The committee recognizes the fire station as a local public amenity and as such recommends the applicant include signage on Phipps Boulevard and Wieuca Road to ensure visibility of and ease of access to the station for the general public.
The committee recommends the station be designed with an eye toward achieving “Well building” or “Fitwell” building standards commensurate with the coming Better Buildings Challenge standards as well as meet the City’s standards for energy efficiency to ensure it contributes to achieving the City’s net zero energy goal.
The committee recommends the applicant work with the Buckhead Community Improvement District to ensure adjacent road improvements (specifically the proposed roundabout at Phipps Blvd/Wieuca Road intersection) are taken into consideration and do not degrade response times.
The committee notes the value of this station in its proximity to PATH400 and encourages the coordination of first responder services with Livable Buckhead.
The Development Committee does not expect to see this applicant again unless significant changes are made to the proposed plans that necessitate additional variations or the City staff requests additional input from the DRC.
