Q2 Employer Spotlight: A Fully Remote Workforce

 In Employer, Mobility

While we are still unsure of how much the pandemic will affect CRE and workforce behaviors in the future, we are already seeing some of its greatest effects with our Buckhead businesses: more full-time remote employees. As you already know, Livable Buckhead is a long-standing supporter of telework, and our Q2 Employer Spotlight is going above and beyond with flexibility as the future.

A small company with eight employees, Melissa Libby & Associates was started in 1992. As communications strategists, MLA focuses their efforts on helping restaurants and other businesses solve their marketing challenges. Since 2008, when Livable Buckhead first worked with the company, employees have had the opportunity to work remotely at least some of the time. They also already had experience with a full-time remote employee who stayed on with the company after moving out of state. Because of this experience and the previous training, MLA had a smooth transition when employees were forced to stay home.

Very quickly, President and CEO, Melissa Libby, had a unique opportunity arise when her office-space lease was set to be up in April. But, because of this forced pilot, her decision was easy. The MLA team realized how productive and happy they were while working from home and made the decision to completely give up their office space – leading to eight less cars on the road every day and thousands of miles saved! This move also has the potential to save each employee up to $5,000 annually with less vehicle maintenance. In order to stay connected, the MLA team now meets weekly (safely and socially distanced) outside at a park to keep team collaboration strong.

Congratulations to Melissa Libby & Associates for the major moves and being nominated as our Q2 Spotlight!
