Old Ivy Fitness Tunnel Opens as Buckhead’s Newest Workout Destination

Highly anticipated outdoor gym delivers fun, fitness and community near PATH400

ATLANTA – May 29, 2025 – Buckhead residents now have a new way to move, connect and thrive with the completion of the Old Ivy Fitness Tunnel, a fully functioning outdoor gym. Livable Buckhead, using a grant from Park Pride, transformed the underpass near PATH400 and Old Ivy Park into a resource for people of all ages and abilities to enhance fitness and improve overall wellness.

The outdoor gym features six pieces of equipment including a cross-country ski machine, a two-person accessible chest press, a two-person lateral pull and vertical press, a rowing machine, a leg extension machine, and an air walker. For Buckhead’s older adults and those with physical disabilities, the addition of accessible equipment means more opportunities to engage in low-impact exercise and mobility while fostering a sense of independence and community. Detailed instructions are included with each piece of equipment, ensuring accessibility for beginners and fitness enthusiasts alike.

“We’re thrilled to bring this innovative fitness experience to Buckhead,” said Denise Starling, executive director of Livable Buckhead. “This is more than just an outdoor gym; it’s a space where people can come together, enjoy the outdoors and participate in wellness activities that are fun for everyone.”

The Old Ivy Fitness Tunnel was brought to life through a partnership with Park Pride’s grantmaking program that aims to revitalize neighborhood shared spaces. The program was established with support from the Robert W. Woodruff Foundation and The Home Depot Foundation, with additional funders including Georgia Power, the City of Atlanta and others through the Parks for All Campaign.
