Guaranteed Ride Home

 In Mobility

Are you taking an alternative mode of transportation to work and have kids that are out of school for the summer? You want to make sure that you can get to them in case of an unexpected event, so make sure that you are registered for Guaranteed Ride Home (GRH).

Programs such as GRH are a form of commuter insurance. When commuters have access to GRH, confidence in commuting options rises, and so does participation in ridesharing, taking transit, biking, walking, etc. In case you don’t know, the Guaranteed Ride Home program provides you with up to 5 free rides home from work in case of an unexpected event. GRH is administered by Georgia Commute Options, a program managed by the Atlanta Regional Commission and funded through the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Program requirements are:

  • Do you carpool, vanpool, ride transit, or bike to work?
  • Are you unable to catch your normal ride home due to an unexpected illness, unscheduled overtime, sick child, etc.?
  • Do you live in one of the following counties? Barrow, Bartow, Carroll, Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Newton, Paulding, Rockdale, Spalding, or Walton
