APD – Security Camera Integration

Cameras on PATH400 are linked to Atlanta Police Department’s Video Integration Center

As a property/business owner you are probably already doing your part to protect public safety by monitoring your property with video security cameras. Did you know that you can have even more impact by connecting your cameras to the Atlanta Police Department’s Video Integration Center (VIC)? The VIC is a high-tech operation that enables 911 operators to access a network of cameras across the city. This provides them with real-time information that can be helpful for officers responding to a situation, and is a valuable tool for increasing public safety. Our goal is to get as many of Buckhead’s private camera systems connected to the VIC as possible. The VIC is compatible with many video management systems (VMS), making integration a fairly simple process.

Operation Shield is a three-pronged security communications program designed to positively impact crime prevention and emergency preparedness between the Atlanta Police Department, the Atlanta business community and surrounding law enforcement jurisdictions. The City of Atlanta is the model for public/private sector partnerships to provide significant benefits to the city and its citizens. Historically Atlanta’s unique and highly successful approach to public/private sector partnerships has created a holistic approach to accomplishing the mission of the Atlanta Police Department, which is to reduce crime and promote the quality of life in partnership with the community. The city leadership has leveraged that partnership to provide the foundation for Operation Shield.

The Operation Shield Video Integration Center currently consists of a vast amount of public, private and government surveillance cameras throughout the city which are used to both deter criminal activity and as a force multiplier.
