About ARC

The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) is the regional planning and intergovernmental coordination agency for the 10-county area including Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry and Rockdale counties, as well as the City of Atlanta. For over 65 years, ARC and its predecessor agencies have helped to focus the region’s leadership, attention and resources on key issues of regional consequence. ARC is dedicated to unifying the region’s collective resources to prepare the metropolitan area for a prosperous future. It does so through professional planning initiatives, the provision of objective information and the involvement of the community in collaborative partnerships.

Livable Buckhead is working hard to help Buckhead embrace a culture of sustainability. We work in the background on many of the things such as the Development Review Committees for SPI-9 and SPI-12, which is setting the stage for a more walkable, urban community enriched with public art and parks, and transportation options.

Through our Mobility Services, we are helping to reduce congestion on our streets and improve our air quality. In 2018, Livable Buckhead worked with 150 Buckhead employers to keep almost 40,000 commuters from driving into the area every day.

Livable Buckhead is also out front, leading the way on innovative projects like PATH400. With the project fully funded, you’ll soon be able to walk or ride a bike from Lindbergh to North Buckhead. We’ve quietly added more than 35 acres of much needed greenspace to Buckhead, including two of our newest parks: Old Ivy Park and Loridans Park.

Livable Buckhead and more than 30 leaders have collaborated to create a sustainability plan for Buckhead. The Buckhead Strategic Sustainability Action Plan establishes ambitious goals designed to accelerate Buckhead’s environmental, economic and social sustainability over the next three years.

With our first buckheadRUN! 5k under our belt and more than 500 Buckhead commuters and residents participating in buckheadWALKS!, Livable Buckhead is helping to weave the fabric of community through our events. Events such as PARK(ing) Day and a return of Bike in Movies at our local parks in the Fall, will provide even more family-friendly fun and excitement.
