Georgia Home Energy Rebates

Upgrage Your Home. Lower Your Bills. Breathe Easier.

Georgia’s New Energy Efficiency Rebates Are Here – and They Could Save You Thousands

Did you know nearly 45% of your household energy goes toward space heating and another 9% to cooling? And that about two-thirds of Georgia homes still use combustion sources like gas stoves, water heaters, and furnaces? These appliances not only drive up utility bills, but they also release pollutants that contribute to asthma and other respiratory illnesses, especially indoors.

The good news? New federal funding—administered by the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA)—is now available to help Georgia homeowners upgrade their homes, cut energy bills, and improve indoor air quality, all while reducing fossil fuel use.

This is a huge opportunity to make your home more efficient and more comfortable— with up to $16,000 in costs covered, significantly reducing or even eliminating what you pay upfront, depending on your income and project scope.

HER – Home Efficiency Rebate

A whole-home approach that helps you reduce your total energy use by at least 20%. Rebates are based on energy savings and will likely cover several projects done at one time, including:

  • Attic or wall insulation
  • Air sealing
  • Energy-efficient windows
  • Other building system improvements and appliances

A certified contractor will complete a home energy assessment and develop a custom upgrade plan.

💸 How Much Can I Save?

These rebates are income-based and designed to benefit low- and moderate-income households.

  • Up to $16,000 in costs covered
  • No upfront costs required for assessments or quotes
  • Rebates go directly to the contractor to reduce your out-of-pocket expenses

Use GEFA’s tool to check your Area Median Income (AMI) eligibility and see how much support you qualify for. If your household income is below the 80% AMI you will qualify for the maximum rebate amounts. If your income is above 80% you are eligible for a reduced rebate amount (if you’re over 150% you’re only eligible for HER).
