Miracle on Peachtree: Celebrate the Holidays in Buckhead

 In News, Press Release

Socially distant celebrations offer festive fun, staycation options throughout December

ATLANTA – December 1, 2020 – Whether you’re already feeling festive or need a little fun to lift your spirits, Buckhead has something to offer you this holiday season. “Miracle on Peachtree” is the theme for all of December’s festivities, from a virtual 5K run to a weekend of holiday drive-in movies and a hot chocolate crawl. Anyone looking for a little extra break for the routine can book a staycation at one of Buckhead’s participating hotels.

“Buckhead is a great spot for a holiday staycation this year,” said Scott Snipes, general manager of Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead. “Take care of your shopping, have a visit with Santa, enjoy a hot chocolate crawl and then take in a holiday movie. Top it off with a stay at one of Buckhead’s great hotels and you’ve got a perfect, festive break from the routine.”

buckheadRUN! Virtual Holiday 5K, Dec. 1-13

buckheadRUN!, Livable Buckhead’s 2nd annual 5K race, returns with a holiday flair and in a virtual format. From December 1 to 13th at noon, runners can complete the 5K course of their choice, then record and submit their time using any map or tracking app. All runners must submit their recorded time by noon on Dec. 13.

This is a perfect opportunity to explore Buckhead during the holidays and get into the holiday spirit for the array of events and programming happening during “Miracle on Peachtree” celebrations. Livable Buckhead has also worked with local DJ Mike Zarin to create a curated holiday Spotify playlist to add a little extra cheer for participants. Runners, walkers, strollers, and dogs are all welcome.

Prizes will be given for the fastest runners and for runners who show the most holiday cheer via holiday costumes! Any participant who submits a selfie during their race will receive a commemorative 5K magnet along with their t-shirt.

To sign up, visit livablebuckhead.org/run. Registration is $30 and includes a race t-shirt.

Sleigh-in Movies, Dec. 11-13

On the second full weekend in December, Livable Buckhead in partnership with the Buckhead Village will host holiday drive-in movies to help everyone get into the spirit. Grab a meal from neighboring restaurants Fado, Taverna or Biltong Bar, then take in a screening of one (or more) of these holiday classics: Elf, Die Hard (edited), Home Alone, An American Tail (courtesy of PJ Library),  A Christmas Story or Love Actually. Spots are limited, so advance ticket purchases are encouraged. Tickets range from $20-$30 for a single showing, or $30-$40 for a double feature.
