About Rich Kenah & Julia Emmons – Executive Directors, Atlanta Track Club

Julia Emmons and Rich Kenah are past and present Executive Directors at Atlanta Track Club, a mission-focused, non-profit organization that operates more than 30 events and programs annually including the world’s largest 10K, the Atlanta Journal Constitution Peachtree Road Race. With more than 30,000 members, Atlanta Track Club is the 2nd largest running organization in the United States.
Julia’s career with Atlanta Track Club spanned more than 20 years from 1985 to 2006. Under her leadership, Atlanta’s annual Independence Day tradition became known as the world’s largest 10K race.
In addition to her role with the Peachtree, she also had a long and distinguished career in many leadership roles within the sport. At the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta, Julia directed the Men’s and Women’s Marathons, the only woman to direct an Olympic marathon. In 2004, she was an assistant coach on the US Olympic Track and Field Women’s Team in Athens.
Julia is a member of Emory University Sports Hall of Fame; the Georgia Track Coaches Hall of Fame, The Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau Hall of Fame, the RRCA Distance Running Hall of Fame, and the Atlanta Sports Hall of Fame. And in 2006, Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin presented her with the city’s highest honor, the Phoenix Award. Emmons served as a city-wide Atlanta Council Member from 1997 to 2001.
Prior to her leadership role with the Atlanta Track Club, Julia was an associate professor at Emory University’s School of Library and Information Science. She has a PhD. in English History.
Rich Kenah was named Executive Director and Race Director of the Peachtree in 2014. Prior to taking the reins at Atlanta Track Club, Rich was Vice President of Events and Marketing for Global Athletics and Marketing, Inc., a Boston-based sports marketing and management firm, an industry leader in managing Olympic athletes and events. He also was Marketing Manager for Falk Associates Management Enterprises, a Washington, DC-based sports-marketing firm specializing in representation of NBA athletes including Michael Jordan and Patrick Ewing.
Rich represented the United States in the 2000 Olympics in Australia. He is a two-time Bronze Medalist in the World Championships. He is a graduate of Georgetown University with a degree in Business Administration and a focus on International Marketing.

BBA’s “2nd Cup” Webinar Series take place on Thursday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. using the online platform Zoom, and features thought leaders and influencer from all over the country. The “2nd Cup” Series is one of BBAs way of staying connected with our members and helping you stay connected with each other.

BBA Members who Pre-Register by 6PM on Wednesday will be allowed to introduce themselves and their business to the online audience (max 1 minute). After which, we will hear from our featured guest.
