A New Space for Wellness: Old Ivy Fitness Project Brings Outdoor Exercise to PATH400
By the end of March, Buckhead residents will have a new reason to step outside, move their bodies, and boost their mental well-being. Thanks to funding from Park Pride and the Community Foundation, Livable Buckhead is bringing six multi-generational fitness machines to PATH400 near Old Ivy Park, creating an accessible and inviting space for all.
Nestled beneath the GA 400 overpass, this new fitness hub will offer more than just an opportunity to break a sweat—it will provide a much-needed mental health boost. Studies consistently show that spending time outdoors reduces stress, improves mood, and enhances overall well-being. The simple act of exercising in nature, whether on a cross-country ski machine, an air walker, or a rowing station, can clear the mind, elevate energy levels, and promote mindfulness.
For Buckhead’s older adults and those with physical disabilities, the addition of accessible equipment means more opportunities to engage in low-impact exercise, fostering both physical health and social connection. With PATH400 already serving as a beloved urban trail linking parks, neighborhoods, and businesses, this fitness expansion transforms it into a true destination for holistic wellness.
“This equipment has long been part of our vision for Old Ivy Park and PATH400, and thanks to Park Pride, we’re making it a reality. This project isn’t just about fitness—it’s about creating an inclusive space where the community can gather, recharge, and feel their best.” ~ Livable Buckhead Executive Director Denise Starling
As Buckhead continues to expand its greenspaces and wellness initiatives, the Old Ivy Fitness Project marks a significant step forward in ensuring everyone has access to the benefits of outdoor exercise. With completion anticipated by year’s end, residents can look forward to a space where movement meets mental well-being—right in the heart of their own community.
