Atlanta’s Traffic Crisis Is Now a Business Issue

 In Employer, Mobility

Why Buckhead employers need to rethink how their teams get to work

Atlanta is known for a lot of things, lemon pepper wings, world-class music, and a thriving business scene, but traffic has always been its most unwanted signature. Now, it’s official: according to a 2025 ConsumerAffairs report, Atlanta ranks fifth in the nation for worst traffic, climbing from eighth place last year and even overtaking New York City. That’s not the kind of progress we’re aiming for.

The data speaks volumes:

  • Average daily commute time: 31.3 minutes (third longest in the U.S.)

  • Average weekday congestion: Nearly five hours

  • Annual fatal crash rate: 10.75 per 100,000 people

These delays aren’t just frustrating, they’re economically damaging, leading to lost productivity, higher turnover, and increased costs for both employees and employers. Nine of the worst freight bottlenecks in the country are located in metro Atlanta, including the infamous I-285/I-85 interchange, known appropriately as Spaghetti Junction.

As traffic worsens with continued growth and development, the question for Buckhead employers becomes clear: How are you helping your employees avoid these daily obstacles and how is your business adapting?

We’re highlighting two employer-focused tools to help you tackle Atlanta’s traffic head-on:

Helping your employees get to work isn’t just a perk, it’s a strategy. And in a city that now ranks among the worst in the nation for traffic, it’s more important than ever.
