Themed Outdoor Movie Nights Are Coming To The Lawn At Uptown Atlanta This Summer
Beginning June 3, the mixed-use destination invites the community to special screenings of Jurassic World, Jaws and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Uptown Atlanta, the 47-acre mixed-use destination surrounding the Lindbergh MARTA station, today announces the official summer lineup for Movies on The Lawn. As a part of Uptown’s Signature Events Series, Movies on The Lawn will include free outdoor movie screenings with themed food and beverage selections from Uptown Test Kitchen’s Chow À La Carte chefs, as well as a variety of crafts, giveaways, unique performances and more.
Event details are outlined below:
- Movies on The Lawn presents Jurassic World: Movies on The Lawn kicks off on Saturday, June 3, with a special screening of Jurassic World. In celebration of National Dinosaur Day and the 35th anniversary of the Jurassic Park franchise, the event will feature music, dancing dinosaur appearances and a chance to win tickets to the Fernbank Museum of Natural History. The Chow À La Carte chefs will be popping up on The Lawn and serving themed cuisine, including dino bites, pterodactyl wings and more. Pre-movie activities will begin at 6 p.m. with the movie starting at 8 p.m.
- Movies on The Lawn presents Jaws: In celebration of National Shark Awareness Day, Uptown will host a special screening of the classic thriller Jaws on Saturday, July 15. All event attendees will have a chance to win tickets to SHARKS! Predators of the Deep at the Georgia Aquarium where they can learn more about these fascinating creatures. The Chow À La Carte chefs will be popping up on The Lawn and serving shark-themed nibbles and more. Pre-movie activities will begin at 6 p.m. with the movie starting at 8 p.m.
- Movies on The Lawn presents Ferris Bueller’s Day Off: On Saturday, August 12, Uptown will celebrate National Lazy Day and the 35th anniversary of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off with a special screening of the famed American teen comedy. The event will feature an 80s-themed dance party with a live DJ playing retro tunes. The Chow À La Carte chefs will offer delicious food options inspired by the movie. Plus, attendees will have a chance to learn about Atlanta’s pedestrian paths and trails in partnership with the Atlanta BeltLine – since wandering the trails is a perfect way to spend a lazy day in the city. Pre-movie activities will begin at 4 p.m. with the movie starting at 8 p.m.
Movies on The Lawn is free and open to the public, but registration is encouraged via Eventbrite. Costs for food, beverage and vendor goods will vary. Event attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs. Free parking is available in the Garson Deck located next to the Lawn and is situated just across the street from the Lindbergh MARTA station for convenient transportation.
Last month, Uptown announced the opening of Uptown Test Kitchen, a new novel culinary experience for Atlanta foodies. Opening on May 26, the first program to activate Uptown Test Kitchen is Chow À La Carte, a first-of-its-kind culinary program featuring rotating chefs from around the world. Chow À La Carte will feature seven house chefs, with rotating guest chefs on the weekends, and open for lunch and dinner every weekend. Additionally, the program will pop-up at future Uptown events on The Lawn, such as comedy and movie nights.
In October, Uptown Atlanta celebrated the opening of the new community greenspace with several major upgrades such as the addition of a paved “goat path.” The Lawn features connectivity to the PATH400, Atlanta BeltLine and the South Fork Trail. Uptown will encompass nearly 1 million square feet of office space, 120,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space and a variety of community gathering spaces.

About Uptown
Uptown is a hyper-accessible, 47-acre mixed-use community that brings the best of Atlanta together. As the largest mixed-use development in Atlanta to connect directly with MARTA and the city’s major pedestrian trails, such as the forthcoming Atlanta BeltLine and the South Fork Trail, Uptown combines 110,000 square feet of street-level retail, greenspace and art and one million square feet of Class A office space. Uptown is being redeveloped by private real estate investment management and advisory firm Rubenstein Partners, LP (Rubenstein). Redevelopment plans include upgrading building facades, streetscapes and greenspaces; activating the property with local retail, artist galleries, restaurants and events; and attracting office tenants who value working in a vibrant mixed-use environment. Atlanta has a Downtown, a Midtown, a Buckhead, and now, finally, an Uptown. To learn more about Uptown, visit uptownatlanta.com and follow @UptownAtlanta on Facebook and Instagram.
