Prominence Earns LEED Gold Certification

 In Blog, Sustainability

We’re excited to share that Prominence in Buckhead has just achieved the LEED Gold certification for their Class A office tower! LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a green building rating system that provides a framework for healthy, highly efficient, and cost-saving green buildings. Their certification was awarded under the updated v4.1 Existing Buildings Operations and Maintenance rating system.

What’s more, Crocker Partners, the property management team for Prominence, reported that most of the efforts they undertook to achieve LEED Gold status were no-cost modifications. Amy Timms, Senior Property Manager, added that their journey to achieve this certification was very manageable and mostly consisted of adjustments to their already ongoing processes.

Several implementations that led to Prominence’s LEED Gold certification include:

  • Enhancement of the building ventilation to improve indoor air quality, including modifying the HVAC system to increase fresh air intake
  • Completion of a garage lighting retrofit project that reduced garage electricity use by 65%
  • Diversion of over 50% of its waste from landfills through its robust recycling program

As part of its efforts, Prominence’s management team partners with Livable Buckhead to hold educational Lunch & Learns for its tenants on green and sustainable practices, such as recycling and alternative transportation options. Prominence participates in Buckhead Recycles, Livable Buckhead’s community-wide recycling program that supports participating buildings’ recycling efforts and helps them achieve higher rates of waste diversion.

We’re proud to congratulate Prominence on this great accomplishment and look forward to watching their continued journey in sustainability!
