AMLI LENOX EARNS LEED GOLD CERTIFICATION

 In Blog, News, Sustainability

Congratulations to our friends at AMLI who have just achieved the LEED Gold certification for their AMLI Lenox property! LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a green building rating system that provides a framework for healthy, highly efficient, and cost-saving green buildings. By achieving this certification, AMLI enables its residents to lower their environmental impact while also lowering their utility bills and living a healthier lifestyle.

Some of the efforts AMLI Lenox put forth to achieve their LEED Gold certification include:

  • Reducing their energy use by 25% beyond the LEED baseline
  • Implementing a community recycling program designed to make recycling convenient and easy with the goal of having a high level of resident participation
  • Providing nearby access to public transit (AMLI Lenox is about a 7 minute walk to the Lenox MARTA station)
  • Access to bike storage and electric car charging
  • Addressing the health of the building by making it a smoke-free community, installing improved ventilation systems to remove outdoor pollutants, adding exhaust fans in tenants’ kitchens so that fumes are pushed outdoors, and utilizing healthy building materials such as low VOC paint and flooring

AMLI Lenox is also directly next to Marie Sims Park – a 1.5 acre public park that has become an exciting addition for the neighborhood and the public to enjoy. The park, which AMLI constructed and paid for, has provided a community space for everything from an Atlanta Cornhole league to outdoor movies to morning outdoor yoga classes. Livable Buckhead has even hosted a bike-in movie night at Marie Sims Park during Biketober – Atlanta’s region-wide bike challenge during the month of October to encourage more people to ride more often. In addition to its social value to the community, the park also provides a critical sustainable service by serving as a beautiful solution to rainwater management. Stormwater runoff in the area is able to flow into the park where it is collected and managed. This reduces the risk of flooding in the area, takes pressure off our city infrastructure, and provides enhanced water quality.

We’re excited to see AMLI’s sustainability efforts and appreciate its contribution to making Buckhead a more livable and sustainable community!
