How To Support CoA Vision Zero Action Plan Locally

 In Health and Wellness, Mobility

The Vision Zero Action Plan is an initiative of the Atlanta Department of Transportation (ATLDOT) and City of Atlanta (COA) to develop specific strategies for making streets safer through design improvements. Livable Buckhead is working with the City to encourage the Buckhead community to share where safety is an issue on our streets and join the City of Atlanta in achieving Vision Zero.

There are multiple ways you can support the Vision Zero Action Plan and get involved in your community:

  • Share your input about safety issues you are experiencing in Buckhead to the online Community Input Map. You have until the end of May to submit your public input!
  • Attend upcoming pop-up events and virtual and in-person community workshops. These events are tentatively scheduled for June and September.
  • Subscribe to Atlanta Vision Zero Email list to receive plan updates and invitations to upcoming events.
  • Follow @ATLDOT on your social media accounts to stay up to date on announcements.
  • If you have any personal experiences related to traffic violence, submit your stories to atldot@atlantaga.gov.

Livable Buckhead locally supports Vision Zero through our annual partnership with Sarah Smith Elementary School on their Walk (or Bike) to School Day event. This year’s event, which took place on April 14th, encouraged students to walk to school along PATH400 while promoting pedestrian safety and saw over 50 students and parents choose to walk instead of drive.

If you’d like to learn more about the Vision Zero program, Livable Buckhead encourages you to watch this 10-minute informational video.
