Big PATH, Tiny Parks is this Weekend!
In a time when everything still seems to be a little upside down, our team at Livable Buckhead has pivoted (pivot is the word of the pandemic) on how to stay engaged with the Buckhead community and workforce. Traditionally, in the fall we host our PARK(ing) Day event with 2000+ attendees but like everyone else in the world we had to rethink how to safely host an experience that shared the same mission – more public art and greenspace.
This year, in collaboration with Tiny Doors ATL, we decided to think REAL BIG and real tiny for our Big PATH, Tiny Parks immersion experience. This weekend, October 16th through 18th (9am-5pm), the stretch of PATH400 between Old Ivy Road and Lenox Road will be filled with nearly 40 tiny parks (that’s 14inx18in kind of tiny) built by our partners and community members. Each park will not only have its own unique design, but in addition, local DJ Mike Zarin of ZEGI has built immersive audio soundscapes for each park – creating an immersion experience attuned to a silent disco….but with parks!
In addition to the main event on PATH400, we have created a virtual event space for people who want to gather online and view the tiny parks. The virtual space is an immersive auditory and visual experience that replicates the in-person experience, including the voting aspect of “Big PATH, Tiny Parks” and the custom soundtracks. This experience will go live Friday morning.
HOW TO GET THERE
We are looking forward to seeing our partners, community members and friends over the weekend. Bike valet (and hopefully you’re participating in Biketober!), SPIN scooters will all be available to ensure you enjoy your tiny tour on PATH400. For those who will be driving, free parking is available a short walk at Sarah Smith Elementary School Primary (Google Maps).
