Take a Spin and Join Livable Buckhead for Two-Wheeled Fun in October
Bike-In Movies, Bike Bazaar and Atlanta Bike Challenge highlight Biketober events
ATLANTA – Sept. 26, 2019 – Livable Buckhead is once again turning October into Biketober. The first full month of fall brings a slate of fun, car-free activities for people of all ages and interests, whether you ride your bike daily or still have to rely on training wheels to keep you upright.
The fun begins on Thursday, October 3 when Livable Buckhead, AMLI Buckhead and AMLI 3464 host the first of two bike-in movie nights and a bike bazaar. The ’90s Halloween classic Hocus Pocus will be the big-screen feature at Marie Sims Park, starting at 6:30 p.m. Food trucks from the Atlanta Street Food Coalition will be on hand for anyone who wants to enjoy an outdoor dinner and a movie. The Grand Bike Bazaar will be a collection of bike-oriented vendors, services, and advocacy organizations to get the public in gear for Biketober.
The kids get their turn for a bike-in movie on Friday, October 25 when Ghostbusters is the main feature in Old Ivy Park beginning at 6:30 p.m. Livable Buckhead will provide popcorn and cotton candy, and picnicking is encouraged.
Biking is more than just a fun way to get to the movies – it can also be a great way to get to work. To encourage more people to give bike commuting a try, Livable Buckhead is partnering with Georgia Commute Options and Love to Ride on the Atlanta Bike Challenge. This month-long competition invites people to take as many trips as possible by bike, earning points for each 10-minute trip and giving them chances to win prizes including a new bike. Bikers can register to participate as part of a workplace team, a cycling club or as an individual.
Biking in Buckhead has never been easier, thanks to PATH400. Join Livable Buckhead on October 20 for Party on the PATH, a night of live music, drinks and dancing under the stars on the newest section of PATH400. Partygoers will enjoy an hour of cocktails and a sneak peek tour of PATH400 with an interactive scavenger hunt, followed by dinner and dancing. Tickets for Party on the PATH begin at $65 for Livable Buckhead members and can be purchased at https://livablebuckhead.com/pop/.
