8 Days of Sustainability: 5 Things You Can Do to Make 2019 a Healthy One for You
**Guest blog by Denae Olberding, Lululemon Run Ambassador, Flywheel Fitness Instructor and Influencer Marketing Guru at Sideqik **
1. Make it Mean Something!
Setting goals are great but if you’re doing it because its trendy or the time of the year that everyone else is, likely you’re not doing it for the right reason. Find a healthy habit that you’re passionate about and could see yourself doing 2019 and beyond.
2. Lean on Community
The token phrase, “I’m not a runner” or “I can’t do that” doesn’t exist this year in your vocabulary. A great place to start is every Tuesday night at Lululemon- Lenox at 6 PM where I lead the LBI and Lululemon Buckhead Run Club. Everything you need from accountability to encouragement, you’ll find yourself with lifelong friends and good feelings every mile. Walk, run, jog or skip; every pace supported.
3. Consistency
When January 31st hits and you’ve burnt yourself out on the same things all month long, look for something to switch things up but stick with a consistent mindset of doing something that still fulfills you. Atlanta is packed with group fitness. A new hot format at Flywheel Sports called FLYFIT is strength training and HIIT. With the best of both worlds, you’ll learn proper function of strength along with opportunities for higher intensity.
4. Give Yourself Time
Realizing change doesn’t happen overnight and developing new habits can take months. Celebrate the small victories like grabbing a healthier treat and taking a class you haven’t tried before. Acknowledge everything you are doing instead of trying to recreate who you are, know that where you are is where you’re meant to be and setbacks are normal. Fail forward and thrive on what’s next.
5. Define Your Own Version of Healthy
Mental and physical health is the ultimate combo. Our world is full of green juices, intense workouts, and weight-loss goals, but healthier choices can be as simple as riding your bike to work on Path400 – or maybe hanging out at a park for a mental-health day; the best part is you have a choice to determine what “healthy” means to you!
