BuckheadRUN! 2025 – The Only 5K Where You Can Pet a Llama

This year, BuckheadRUN! isn’t just about running—it’s about making Buckhead a little wilder (without any actual wildlife escaping onto Peachtree Road). On Saturday, May 3rd, 2025, we’re hitting the streets to celebrate our future sculpted petting zoo along the new PATH400 extension. That’s right — later this year we’re bringing a life-sized elephant, a towering giraffe, and a not-so-menacing crocodile to the heart of the city. They won’t move, bite, or require snacks, but they will make Buckhead the coolest place to take a selfie.
Because we believe fun should be furry, feathery, or fantastically weird, we’re encouraging runners of all ages and abilities to dress as their favorite animals. Whether you gallop like a gazelle, waddle like a penguin, or just wear cat ears and call it a day, you’ll fit right in!
🐾 What’s New This Year?
- Course:You gave us feedback and we listened! We’re back to starting and finishing at Lenox Square. No more Piedmont Road… no more giant hill.
- Costume Contest: The wilder, the better. Who wouldn’t want to see a human-sized giraffe outrun a cheetah in sneakers?
- Fastest Fido Category: Because your dog deserves to chase glory (and possibly a squirrel).
- Paw-some Giveaways: All runners receive and t-shirt and swag bag
- Post-Race Fun: Stick around for the llamas….seriously, we will have real llamas, who doesn’t love llamas. There will be lots of fun for the whole family.
By participating in BuckheadRUN! 2025, you’re helping to support Livable Buckhead’s mini safari—minus the plane ticket to Africa. So lace up, grab your fur babies, and let’s run for the (very still, very sculpted) animals!

PARKING
Free parking is available at Lenox Square. We highly encourage you to use MARTA when visiting Buckhead (Lenox Station is a short walk from the start of our planned route). For convenience, runners are encouraged to park in the True Food parking area, near the main entrance.
COURSE INFO
buckheadRUN! is a fun 3.1 miles through the Buckhead core. The 5K USATF Certified course begins at Lenox Square and takes you to PATH400 and back to Lenox Square. A water station will be available.

FITTEST FIDO AWARD
Bring your favorite four-legged friend and compete for the fittest and fastest pup in the race. Fun giveaways will be available for your best paw pal.
Please note: While we love all pups, please refrain from bringing your four-legged friends if they’re not up to the walk/run or aren’t great with crowds. All dogs must be kept on a 6ft or shorter leash and dog owners are responsible for picking up after their pets. Dogs must be current on the following vaccinations: DHPP, Bordetella, Rabies and Leptospirosis. Dogs must be at least four months old. Please stay 6 feet away from the llamas, so that everyone stays happy.

Load Truck for Livable Buckhead’s Annual 5K Run
Date: Fri, May 2, 2025
Time: 10:00AM-11:00AM
Description: We will be working together to load our organization’s truck, with supplies necessary for our 5K event, on Saturday.
Purpose: This is a positive team building event.
Role: In this role, participants will be assisting Livable Buckhead staff members in organizing and placing items into a vehicle.
Buckhead Run 5K 2025
Date: Sat, May 3, 2025
Time: 6:30AM-11:00AM
Description: Livable Buckhead’s 7th annual 5K, returns on Saturday, May 3. A celebration of spring featuring our future sculpted petting zoo along the new PATH400 extension.
Purpose: Volunteers will have a positive impact on the community of Buckhead by physically supporting Livable Buckhead in the facilitation the event, and will joyfully encourage 5K runners to finish the race.
Role: Set up, check-in of participants, other responsibilities as needed. Load and unload truck.
Water Station/Cheer Squad – buckheadRUN! 5K 2025 – On PATH400
Date: Sat, May 3, 2025
Time: 7:00AM-9:00AM
Description: Set up, distribution, and clean up, of the 5K water station. Cheer runners on
Purpose: You will make a positive impact on the 5K runners, by supplying them with water, and the encouragement they need to finish the race!
Role: You will meet with a small group of volunteers to set up, and staff, the 5K water station. You will clean up the area after the last of the runners have passed by.
buckheadWALKS!
buckheadRUN! concludes a month of fitness and wellness-focused programs from nonprofit Livable Buckhead known as buckheadWALKS! During April, Buckhead residents and workers compete for prizes — on their own or as part of a team – by walking as many steps as possible and participating in additional activities including scavenger hunts and Buckhead walking tours.
This challenge is open to Buckhead residents and employees of Buckhead-based businesses. During this FREE wellness challenge, you will be able to stay active, improve your physical and mental well-being, AND win prizes – all while having fun!
Livable Buckhead has chosen the Wellable platform as our health and wellness partner for our 2025 walk challenge. The Livable Buckhead team cannot wait to see you all again for our 8th annual walk challenge!
Buckhead Run Club
Livable Buckhead and the Buckhead community has created the best running club in the city. This run club is open to all levels. Run, walk or even cartwheel – we just want to see you out on PATH400! The Buckhead Run + Walk Club is a great opportunity to get into a weekly running routine or simply enjoy the safety of a group run, join us every Tuesday at 6:00pm at Citizens Market/Phipps Plaza (3500 Peachtree Road NE Atlanta GA 30326) for this weekly run.
Lace up your running shoes and cruise an easy three miles with us as we explore Buckhead and PATH400. All levels are welcome.
