The “West Village”
THE “WEST VILLAGE” An area of mostly local retailers, restaurants, and bars
In the few blocks bounded by West Paces Ferry, Roswell and Andrews, we have a real hidden treasure unknown to the casual visitor. It’s an historic and eclectic shopping destination with its array of quaint shops, galleries, restaurants, bars and other businesses.
This district is part of the newly-expanded CID but maintains a real “village” atmosphere, artfully combining the beauty and tradition of the Old South with the needs of sophisticated style seekers, offering something for everyone, be it clothing, accessories, jewelry, lingerie, furnishings, antiques, and more. There are also two dozen establishments that have alcohol licenses.
So Buckhead has bragging rights for yet another dimension — a “village” with which not many are familiar. It’s right in the heart of Buckhead, yet hidden away, waiting to be discovered. It’s the twenty-four-hour part of Atlanta that young and old will enjoy, with delightful “mom and pop” businesses, safe, orderly and sensible nightlife, and the convenience of location at the triangle Charlie Loudermilk Park. This is where the community came into being about one hundred and seventy-five years ago when the name changed from Irbyville to Buckhead, when a trophy buck’s head became the meeting place of friends.
