Commute Plan: Midtown
If you live in Midtown, you have many options to make your commute to Buckhead easier.
A single occupancy car ride take should approximately 16 minutes to get to the Buckhead Business District, but in traffic that commute can be up to 45 minutes. Yes. 45 minutes to go 5 miles.
There are several other options for commuting to Buckhead.
MARTA:
Train: The train is the fastest, most efficient way to avoid traffic.
Midtown Station: From this station one would take the Red Line to the Buckhead or Lindbergh Station, or the Gold Line to Lenox or Lindbergh Station. This commute would take approximately 5-16 minutes, depending which station was your destination. Taking MARTA would result in a shorter commute and allows for productivity or relaxation on the train. Parking is not available at this station.
Arts Center Station, From this station one would take the Red Line to the Buckhead or Lindbergh Station, or the Gold Line to Lenox or Lindbergh Station. This commute would take approximately 3-14 minutes, depending which station was your destination. Taking MARTA would result in a shorter commute and allows for productivity or relaxation on the train. This station has 33 daily parking spots.
Bus: Three bus lines operate from Midtown to Buckhead stations.
Route 27: This route operates North/ South between Arts Center and Lenox stations primarily along 14th St., Piedmont Ave., Cheshire Bridge Rd. and Lenox Rd. Points of Interest: Piedmont Park, and Botanical Gardens.
Route 110: This route operates North/South between Arts Center, Buckhead, and Brookhaven stations via 15th St., Peachtree Rd., and Dresden Dr. Points of Interest: Woodruff Arts Ctr., Piedmont Hosp., Shepherd Center, Peachtree Battle Shopping Ctr., and Lenox Square.
Route 809: This route operates North/South between King Memorial and Lindbergh stations via Decatur St., Boulevard, Monroe Dr., and Piedmont Rd. Select trips via Armour & Ottley Drives. Points of Interest: The King Ctr., Piedmont Park, Wellstar Atl. Medical Ctr., and Ansley Mall
Walk / Bike:
Due to your close proximity to MARTA, it would be an additional option to bike or walk. This is a great opportunity to get daily exercise or complete your daily activity goals. The City of Atlanta has been expanding its bike lane network which makes it easier and safer for cyclists to get around. The Atlanta Bike Coalition, a local nonprofit that advocates for a safe and connected network of bikeways and better conditions for bicycling, provides additional resources like classes and programs for new and seasoned cyclist that would like to start to biking.
Additionally the City of Atlanta has a robust bike share program. Relay Bike Share is the City of Atlanta’s bike share operator. With 500 “smart bikes” and over 70 stations across the city, Relay seeks to be a healthy and enjoyable transportation solution. Carpool:
