If you live in McDonough, there are several options to make your commute to Buckhead easier.

A single occupancy car ride should take approximately 40 minutes to get to the Buckhead Business District, but during traffic that commute can be 1 to 2 hours or more. You do have other options.

Transit:

Xpress gives commuters throughout the metro Atlanta region a valuable transportation option and also improves the capacity of Georgia’s most congested highways.

Taking Marta into work can keep you out of traffic. One way would be to drive to Indian Creek Station Park and RideFrom this station, one would take the Blue Line to Five Points Station then transfer to the Red Line to the Buckhead or Lindbergh Station, or the Gold Line to Lenox or Lindbergh Station. Another way would be to drive to College Park Station Park and Ride. From this station, one would ride the Red Line to the Buckhead or Lindbergh Station, or the Gold Line to Lenox or Lindbergh Station. Taking Marta can result in a shorter and more productive commute compared to sitting in traffic . Parking is available at both of these stations.

Xpress bus is another transit option. Xpress is a regional commuter coach service operated as a partnership between the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA) and Clayton, Cherokee, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Paulding, and Rockdale counties. The park and ride locations that would be most ideal to use would be McDonough Park and Ride. The following Xpress buses to take you to the  Civic Center Marta Station 430 and 432. From here, it is a short 15-minute ride to Buckhead Business District.

MARTA and Xpress work together to provide a seamless commute with free transfers between systems. All GRTA Xpress, CCT and GCT routes serve MARTA stations in Midtown, Downtown, Lindbergh and Perimeter. In the morning, Buckhead commuters pay GRTA Xpress fare and get a free transfer onto a MARTA train to continue on to Buckhead. In the afternoon commuters pay MARTA fare and get a free transfer onto a GRTA Xpress bus. Most Buckhead area commuters will need 20 one way MARTA trips ($42.50) and 20 one way Xpress/CCT/GCT trips (2 x 10 ride) for the month.

Carpool:

Carpooling can help you save time, money and vehicle wear and tear while sharing the driving duties. It only takes two or more commuters riding in a personal vehicle to form a carpool. Livable Buckhead offers ride matching services, as well as incentives to help you share the ride. Livable Buckhead even offers an incentive to encourage two-person carpools.
