Commute Plan: Downtown

 In Employer, Mobility

If you live in Downtown, there are several options to make your commute to Buckhead easier.

A single occupancy car ride takes approximately 23 minutes to get to the Buckhead Business District. During morning and evening commute times, that trip can take up to 45 minutes.

Nevertheless, there are great options for transit.

Transit:

Taking MARTA into work will let you look at traffic rather than sit in it. Downtown is home to several MARTA Stations:

Garnett: A commute from Garnett  Station would take approximately 18 minutes on the Red Line to the Buckhead Station. Taking MARTA would allow for 18 minutes of productivity on the train rather than sitting in traffic. Parking is not available at these stations.

Five Points StationFrom this station, one would take the Red Line to the Buckhead Station. This commute would take approximately 15 minutes. Taking MARTA would allow for 15 minutes of productivity on the train rather than sitting in traffic. Parking is not available at these stations.

Peachtree Center From this station, one would take the Red Line to the Buckhead Station. This commute would take approximately 14 minutes. Taking MARTA would allow for 14 minutes of productivity on the train rather than sitting in traffic. Parking is not available at these stations.

Civic Center: From this station, one would take the Red Line to the Buckhead Station. This commute would take approximately 13 minutes. Taking MARTA would allow for 13 minutes of productivity on the train rather than sitting in traffic. Parking is not available at these stations.

Walk/ Bike:

Due to your close proximity to MARTA, it would be an additional option to bike or walk to the Five Points Station or one of the other stations close by.  This is a great opportunity to get exercise or complete your daily activity goals. The City of Atlanta has been expanding its bike lane network which makes it easier and safer for cyclists to get around. The Atlanta Bike Coalition, a local nonprofit that advocates for a safe and connected network of bikeways and better conditions for bicycling, provides additional resources like classes and programs for both new and seasoned cyclist that would like to start to biking. Future Opportunities:

With the continued development of the Northside Trail Segment of the BeltlinePath400, and other trails, direct access to Buckhead via walking and biking will be coming soon. Check out the Path400 website for continued updates and events.
