3402 Piedmont Road (Blue Martini)

Description: The applicant intends to occupy the existing building at 3402 Piedmont Road and make improvements to the existing building and immediate surroundings to aesthetically and functionally prepare if for its use as a restaurant. The improvements the applicant is proposing include expanding the existing building by 1880 square feet;  alterations to the east, west, and north building façade; and the addition of a covered patio. The applicant also intends to employ a full-time valet service for the comfort and convenience of its customers, as well as to ensure that all loading can safely and efficiently take place within the boundaries of the subject property.

Recommendations:

  • Section 16-18I.017.4.b – Active sidewalk uses should be directly connected to the sidewalk on the adjacent street.

Recommendation:  The committee recommends the applicant incorporate a striped pedestrian walkway to comply with the code requirements.

 

Additional Considerations

  • The committee commends the applicant for considering the inclusion of bioswales.
  • The committee recommends the applicant integrate rideshare drop off loactions and scooter parking into the project site to minimize conflicts.
  • The committee recommends the applicant coordinate with Darion Dunn at the Buckhead CID to ensure consistency with the future widening of Piedmont Road.
  • The committee reccommends beginning early promotion and education to establish the resuturant aspect of the establishment.

 

The Development Committee does not expect to see this applicant again unless significant changes are made to the proposed plans that necessitate additional variations or the City staff requests additional input from the DRC.
