Commute Plan: Lawrenceville

 In Employer, Mobility

If you live in the City of Lawrenceville – there are several great commute options that could make your life easier.

Generally, a single occupancy car ride from Lawrenceville should take 45 minutes to arrive at the Buckhead Business District, however, with traffic the same commute could take one or more hours. The good news is, there are other options!

Transit Options:

Taking MARTA to work could save you from sitting in traffic! One way to use Marta would be to drive to the Doraville Station Park and Ride. From this station, one would take the Gold line 4 stops to Lindbergh Station. Once at Lindbergh station, one would transfer to the redline, and ride 1 stop North to Buckhead Station. Using Marta as an alternative means of transit could allow for a more productive commute and time added back to your day. Additionally, the Doraville Station does offer free 24-hour parking.

Xpress gives commuters throughout the metro Atlanta region a valuable transportation option and also improves the capacity of Georgia’s most congested highway.

Xpress buses are another available transit option. Xpress is a regional commuter coach operated as a partnership between the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA) and Clayton, Cherokee, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Paulding, and Rockdale counties. The park and ride location that would be most ideal to use would be Sugar Loaf Mills Bus Station. Using Xpress route 410, one would get off at the Lindbergh Station stop.  Once at Lindbergh Station, a quick transfer to the Red line, and ride one stop north brings you to the Buckhead Station.

MARTA and Xpress work together to provide a seamless commute with free transfers between systems. All GRTA Xpress, CCT and GCT routes serve MARTA stations in Midtown, Downtown, Lindbergh, and Perimeter. In the morning, Buckhead commuters pay GRTA Xpress fare and get a free transfer onto a MARTA train to continue on to Buckhead. In the afternoon commuters pay MARTA fare and get a free transfer onto a GRTA Xpress bus. Most Buckhead area commuters will need 20 one way MARTA trips ($42.50) and 20 one way Xpress/CCT/GCT trips (2 x 10 ride) for the month. If you would like to learn more, Click Here

Carpool Option:

Carpooling can help you save time, money and vehicle wear and tear while sharing the driving duties. It only takes two or more commuters riding in a personal vehicle to form a carpool. Livable Buckhead offers ride-matching services, as well as incentives to help you share the ride. Livable Buckhead even offers an incentive to encourage two-person carpools. Whether it’s your spouse,  your best friend or a co-worker, two-person carpools can earn a $20 gas card every month through ‘Pool Perks.
