BUC Shuttle and the Expansion of Transit Access

Livable Buckhead is expanding transit access to Buckhead businesses with a new on-demand shuttle service.

Hopefully you know by now that the new Buc shuttle service debuted last week and maybe even tried it out!

The Buckhead Community Improvement District and Livable Buckhead have partnered with Via to replace the fixed-route shuttle service with an on-demand, corner to corner service.  This service is designed to work together with transit to provide an expanded service to a much larger  audience of Buckhead commuters and residents.

A 2019 study completed by Boston Consulting Group showcased how on-demand transit not only balances the experiences between private cars and public transportation, but also creates greater opportunities for all. While the study emphasizes it, it’s clear that first and last-mile on-demand transit expands transit options far beyond walking distances. And as we all know, many Buckhead businesses are not within the half-mile walking distance to a train station that most prefer.

Coupling the new Buc service with Livable Buckhead’s discounted transit pass program is going to be a major benefit for employees returning to the office. This program provides employees with reduced-rate MARTA fare, and when paired with a free trip from the station, there’s no reason you shouldn’t be offering this program!

Furthermore, providing expanded commute options for employees not only improves recruitment and retention efforts but also helps employees save on gas, reduces traffic and improves our air quality.
