Buckhead safety task force approved by Council
The Atlanta City Council on Tuesday approved the creation of a task force focused on crime in Buckhead, which newly-elected Councilperson Mary Norwood put forth. The legislation creates the Buckhead Public Safety Task Force with aims to provide enhanced coordination between existing law enforcement agencies and Buckhead neighborhood groups. The resolution kicks off Councilperson Norwood’s return to Atlanta City Council and places Buckhead’s anxiety towards public safety at the forefront in the Atlanta City Council Chambers.
The Buckhead Safety Task Force will provide heightened coordination between law enforcement agencies and neighborhood groups, including Livable Buckhead. Norwood’s proposal supports and expands previous public safety intervention proposals, including the Buckhead Security Plan that was created by the Buckhead CID.
