Holiday Traffic in Buckhead
The holidays are here and along with it….traffic!
Previous holiday seasons in Buckhead have proven that the vehicular traffic will increase significantly in the days leading up to Christmas.
Starting on Monday, December 10th, you can expect heavy work day traffic delays in the Buckhead area beginning at 11:00 am and lasting through 7:30 pm. This is due to the current Buckhead daytime population and the outside of Buckhead population taking advantage of the incredible dining options for holiday luncheons, cocktail hours and holiday dinners to celebrate with colleagues, friends and family as well as the diverse and renowned retail offerings. Peak traffic times for Lenox Square Mall and Phipps Plaza will be the weekends and the week before Christmas as well as the day after Christmas.
These traffic delays will be most felt during the evening commute home leaving Buckhead. This is an excellent time to take an alternative mode of transportation. Please consider some of the programs that Livable Buckhead offers.
‘Pool Perks The two-person carpool program that can earn you a $20 gas card each month. The more riders in each carpool, the fewer cars we have on our roads every day. That’s why carpools with 3 or more riders can qualify for $40-$60 gas cards.
Tran$ave Livable Buckhead, in partnership with MARTA, provides unlimited monthly Breeze cards at a 20% discount to Buckhead commuters through their employers and property managers.
Xpress Operated by the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority (GRTA), gives commuters throughout the metro Atlanta region a valuable transportation option and also improves the capacity of Georgia’s most congested highways. MARTA and Xpress work together to provide a seamless commute with free transfers between systems. Route 482 from Town Center (Big Shanty) to Perimeter Center is GRTA’s newest route.
