Rooms to Go – 3256 Peachtree Road
Description: Rooms to Go is modernizing the look of the store by upgrading the facades with prefinished metal perforated screening, a curtain wall system, brushed aluminum finishes and grey wall tile. They are removing the obsolete road between the entrance to the store and Piedmont Road and bringing the streetscape standards up to compliance with SPI-9 requirements.

The committee recommends the applicant coordinate with the Buckhead Community Improvement District to ensure they are on the same page regarding streetscape improvements associated with the upcoming widening of Piedmont Road.
While the applicant is not changing the parking on the site and is not officially subject to the new zoning code requirement, the committee recommends the applicant coordinate with Livable Buckhead to explore installation of EV charging stations in an effort to comply with the spirit of the new zoning requirements to incorporate 20% EV charging on site.
The committee commends the applicant on the energy efficient nature of the modifications being made and in light of these efforts, encourages the applicant to take part in the Atlanta Better Buildings Challenge program which requires a 20% energy reduction by 2020.
The applicant noted they have 20-25 employees on site at this store and that some of them do use MARTA to get to work. The committee recommends the applicant coordinate with Livable Buckhead to establish a discounted transit pass program for their employees.
The Development Committee does not expect to see this applicant again unless significant changes are made to the proposed plans that necessitate additional variations or the City staff requests additional input from the DRC.
