Connect Your Security Cameras To Atlanta Police Department’s Video Integration Center
The Video Integration Center (VIC) is a high-tech operation that enables 911 operators to access a network of cameras across the city. This provides them with real-time information that can be helpful for officers responding to a situation, and is a valuable tool for increasing public safety. Our goal is to get as many of Buckhead’s private camera systems connected to the VIC as possible. The VIC is compatible with many video management systems (VMS), making integration a fairly simple process.
Denise Starling, Livable Buckhead’s executive director, explains how integration helps your property, your tenants, and the Buckhead community.
What Does It Mean to Integrate into the VIC?
- Private Integrations allow APD’s Video Integration Center (VIC) to view your cameras in real time
- The situational awareness gained allows APD to better assess, prepare, respond, and communicate before arriving on scene of an incident
- More privately integrated cameras expands the camera network allowing fewer officers to observe larger areas of the city leading to increased crime detection
How Does This Benefit You?
- The expanded network = increased likelihood of crime detection or intervention
- Immediate situational awareness = Better able to defuse and control
- EMERGENCY Situation Management (i.e. Active Shooter, riots)
- Reduced reaction/assessment time = reduced harm/damage
