Atlanta Public School Board Elections
The Atlanta Board of Education establishes and approves the policies that govern the Atlanta Public School system. The Board consists of nine members, representing six geographical districts and three “at-large” districts. One person is elected per district to represent the schools in a given district for a four-year term. Nine seats on the Atlanta Public Schools school board in Georgia are up for general election on November 2, 2021. If necessary, a runoff election is scheduled for November 30, 2021. The filing deadline for this election was August 20, 2021.
Note: the 2021 election is the start of staggered-term elections for the Atlanta Board of Education. Even district (2, 4, 6, and 8) candidates will be running for a full four-year term. Odd district (1, 3, 5, 7, and 9) seats will have a two-year term and will be voted on again in 2023.
