Update on the EVery Mile Campaign: Charging Ahead for a Greener Buckhead

 In Energy, EV, Sustainability

In 2018, Livable Buckhead launched the ambitious ‘EVery Mile Campaign‘ with a clear goal: to ensure that all Buckhead residents are within one mile of a public EV charger. We are thrilled to announce that we have achieved this milestone within the Buckhead CID boundary, and gone a step further with nearly every resident now being within a quarter mile of a public EV charger. This accomplishment underscores our commitment to sustainable living and reducing our carbon footprint in Buckhead.

Expanding our reach to the broader Buckhead neighborhood, which is predominantly residential, has posed some challenges. However, we are proud to report that 74% of the extended Buckhead neighborhood is within a mile of a public EV charger. This significant progress demonstrates our ongoing efforts to make EV charging accessible to as many residents as possible.

Georgia is making impressive strides in EV adoption, currently ranked 12th in the nation for the number of EVs and 10th for total EV chargers. Buckhead, in particular, stands out with 10% of all registered EVs in the state. This high adoption rate is a testament to our community’s dedication to sustainability and forward-thinking transportation solutions.

The benefits of driving an EV are clear and impactful. Our Buckhead EV drivers are saving, on average, $1,500 per year. More importantly, they are preventing 8,026 pounds of carbon emissions annually. To put this into perspective, this reduction in emissions is equivalent to recycling 157 trash bags of waste instead of sending them to landfills or growing 60 tree seedlings for ten years.

The ‘EVery Mile Campaign’ is a crucial part of our broader sustainability goals, helping to reduce emissions, lower energy costs, and promote cleaner air in our community. As we continue to enhance our infrastructure and encourage EV adoption, we are paving the way for a greener, more sustainable future for Buckhead. Thank you to all our residents, businesses, and partners who have supported this campaign. Together, we are making a significant difference, one mile at a time. Let’s continue to drive forward, ensuring that every mile in Buckhead is a step toward a cleaner, healthier environment.

Livable Buckhead is partnering with Clean Cities Georgia, EnviroSpark, Georgia Power, and the City of Atlanta to deliver a completed EV infrastructure for Buckhead, so that no EV user in Buckhead is more than one mile from an EV charger.
