The Benefits of a Guaranteed Ride Home
The key benefit of a Guaranteed Ride Home (GRH) program is that it makes employees more likely to use alternative transportation.
Imagine this scenario: an employee who commutes by transit has to suddenly rush home to pick up a sick child from school. The GRH program comes through by providing quick, reliable transportation when it’s needed most.
Programs such as GRH are a form of commuter insurance. The Guaranteed Ride Home program provides employees who participate in ridesharing, take transit, or bike with up to 5 free rides home from work in case of an unexpected event. GRH is administered by Georgia Commute Options, a program managed by the Atlanta Regional Commission and funded through the Georgia Department of Transportation.
Program requirements are:
- Do you carpool, vanpool, ride transit, or bike to work?
- Are you unable to catch your normal ride home due to an unexpected illness, unscheduled overtime, sick child, etc.?
- Do you live in one of the following counties? Barrow, Bartow, Carroll, Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Newton, Paulding, Rockdale, Spalding, or Walton.
