Telework: QGenda – Keeping Your Employees Engaged

Four-legged fur friends are encouraged at FriYAYs virtual happy hours at QGenda

Working from home has been a huge adjustment for my company (myself included). Although we have a “Work From Home” policy and out of state offices, we aren’t experts either. I manage the culture of our company, so I have to constantly find ways to encourage & support the company remotely. I started sending emails to the team with wellness tips, links to free workouts, virtual activities (like museums and online games), & out-of-the-box ideas to do in your spare time (besides binging netflix).

My goal is to be a “virtual cheerleader” for people who feel isolated and alone during this time. I try to set goals to check in on individuals throughout the day and make sure everyone feels engaged. Most people are just dying for conversation outside of work or their usual circle. Our latest culture event is “QGenda Idol” where people submit videos of their talents! The rest of the company will vote for their favorite video and the winner will have a prize delivered to their home! I hope it will encourage people to move, get creative, & have some fun during this time!

Here are a few more events we’ve been doing as a company:

  • Encouraging video calls to break down the wall of communication, and build more of a community
  • Virtual yoga sessions every Tuesday morning
  • GrubHub lunches each week
  • Cookies delivered to people’s door for their birthdays
  • Virtual “innings” playing games, MTV Cribs style, & trivia
  • Department Town Halls but making them fun get to know you times, happy hours, and miscellaneous polls, & shouting out everyone giving back to the community

Needless to say, this is a challenging time for our nation. Fortunately, QGenda has remained QFam and have grown stronger as a community!
