Pediatric Cancer Patients Take Center Stage

 In Community, Health and Wellness

***Guest blog: Lindsey Jones – Director of Marketing, Lenox Square***

Lenox Square welcomes Atlantans to celebrate the courage of young cancer fighters as they make their runway debut at Fashion Funds the Cure. Benefiting the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation, the second annual event will be held on Saturday, March 14 from 2-4 p.m. in Macy’s Court.

The highly anticipated fundraiser blends the vibrant world of runway style and glamour with the dreams of pediatric cancer patients for an upbeat fashion show. Guests will enjoy the season’s best trends, delicious foods provided by California Pizza Kitchen and a cocktail reception.

The fashion show will highlight the latest looks from some of your favorite stores at Lenox Square. During the first segment of the show, the audience will meet each modeling pediatric cancer patient and learn about their hobbies and interests. The second portion will showcase participating brands’ newest collections. Lastly, the finale will feature each patient dressed as what they would like to be when they grow up, as they take the runway with someone from that profession. Music complementing each child’s dream will accompany the uplifting ending.

Tickets are $50 and can be purchased online now. Funds raised will directly benefit the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation. Founded in 1991, the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation is dedicated to funding clinical trials by collaborating with a network of cutting-edge hospitals across the nation to eliminate childhood cancer and fast track less-toxic, more targeted treatments and therapies.

The NPCF has received a perfect 100% score for financial health and transparency and is recognized as the top-rated cancer charity in the U.S. by Charity Navigator.

Why is this important?

  • Cancer is the #1 cause of death by disease among children.
  • 43 children per day are expected to be diagnosed with cancer.
  • Only 4% of the billions of dollars that are annually spent on cancer research and treatments are directed towards treating childhood cancer.
  • More than 95% of those who survive childhood cancer will have a significant health related issue by the time they are 45 as a result of being treated with drugs designed for adults.
