Four-Week Challenge Aims for Healthier WFH Habits

Better Habits, Better You Challenge features workouts, cooking classes and more

ATLANTA – August 11, 2020 – Five months after the coronavirus led to widescale shut-downs, many people continue to work from home and plan to do so for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately, work arrangements adopted in March as stop-gap measures may not be healthy or productive for the long term. Livable Buckhead is offering help – and motivation – to make work-from-home a healthier, happier endeavor.

The Better Habits, Better You Challenge is a four-week series of daily activities designed to create better habits while working from home. The quick, easy activities focus on sustainability at home, work-from-home best practices, and health and wellness. Participants earn points for each completed activity, giving them a chance to win prizes. Better Habits, Better You Challenge is open to anyone who works or lives in Buckhead.

The challenge features daily themes and activities to earn points:

  • Movement Mondays: Complete at least 30 minutes of a physical or wellness activity. Each Monday BACH Fitness, a HIIT studio in Buckhead, will host live and/or prerecorded 30-minute HIIT classes for a quick way to break a sweat.
  • Sustainable Tuesdays: Each week Livable Buckhead will provide free videos and guidance on how to be more sustainable in your home. Activities will range from webinars with livethrive’s CHaRM and Southface to simple checklists that identify easy ways to be more eco-friendly.
  • Whip It Up Wednesdays: Each Wednesday, peace love food Chef Laureen Herzig will offer free, live cooking classes featuring easy lunch recipes. At the beginning of each week, Livable Buckhead will provide that week’s recipe so you can purchase the ingredients and follow along at home.
  • Work from Home Thursdays: Each week a new activity or webinar provides help for work-from-home success, addressing the ergonomics of your home office, prioritizing your time, and staying productive. Live webinar topics include “Revisiting Your Space and Mind” and “Work from Home Fatigue.”
  • DIY Fridays: Start a new hobby or learn a new skill with Livable Buckhead, or independently.
  • Weekend Warrior: Explore. Hike. Bike. Be active on the weekends by visiting local parks and trails.

By earning points, participants have a chance to win weekly prizes including an REI gift card, gift certificates for fresh produce from local CSA Moore Farms and Friends, or a gift basket from Chef Suzi Sheffield of Beautiful Briny Sea. The grand prize includes a $250 Airbnb gift card and one annual pass to Georgia state parks.
