Weekend Warrior: Dunwoody Nature Center
September 6, 2020
Weekends are for greenspace! We encourage our participants to visit a local park, trail or greenspace and just get outside over the the weekend. There’s no requirement on the park that you visit. Each week participants will have an opportunity to earn 75 points for visiting a new local park or trail during the challenge.
Interested in learning about new parks to explore? Livable Buckhead has joined forces with REI and 9 other organizations to encourage Metro Atlanta residents to get outside and visit a local park by participating in a separate challenge called Hikes For Health.
This weekend check out the Dunwoody Nature Preserve. With 22 acres and four distinct habitats, there is a lot to see and do. Two miles of woodland hiking trails traverse a number of different habitats including Piedmont forest and wetlands. Wildcat Creek is truly the heart of the Nature Center. The Nature Center is often referred to as the crown jewel of Dunwoody parks, and Wildcat Creek serves as the shining gem of this crown. The playground features modern play equipment in a unique, shaded setting. It is filled with a huge structure for older kids with two tall slides and a smaller structure for toddlers. There are also two climbing towers (one spins!), a giant rope swing, a new-school teeter-totter, flat-bottom swings, and more.
Dunwoody Park is part of the Dunwoody Parks & Recreation greenspace, and is open and free to the public sunrise to sunset, everyday.
