Recommendations Regarding Variations:
Section 16-18I.025: The applicant requests a variation from the bicycle parking required for the site due to limited space available to accommodate the parking and lack of projected usage due to anticipated target market.
Recommendation: The committee recommends the applicant work with the landlord to meet the bicycle parking requirement for the development as a whole elsewhere on the site in a comprehensive fashion.
Section 16-18I.017.3: Street address on Building façade
Recommendation: The committee recommends the applicant incorporate the address on the front of the building to satisfy this requirement.
Additional Recommendations
- The committee recommends the applicant coordinate with the landlord to incorporate signage and/or other markings that denote the parking (both front and rear) spaces dedicated to the establishment.
- The committee recommends the applicant coordinate with the landlord to develop an aesthetically pleasing – possibly artistic – solution to minimize the visual impact of the utility meters on the front of the space.
- The committee recommends the applicant coordinate with Lauren Watts at the Atlanta Police Department to link any security cameras with the City’s Video Integration Center.
- The committee recommends the applicant coordinate with the landlord to pressure wash the sidewalk in front of the retail space.
The Development Committee does not expect to see this applicant again unless significant changes are made to the proposed plans that necessitate additional variations or the City staff requests additional input from the DRC.
