An Affordable EV for Everyone. Yes, Please!
With the EV competition revving up, we are going to see more affordable priced EVs coming out. Lower prices will allow more than just the elite to purchase and cruise around town improving the carbon footprint of the country. The rise of mass marketing EV’s at an affordable cost will be a milestone politically, economically, and environmentally for the nation. Not only do you get a $7,500 tax credit for your new EV, but Tesla has said they will be cutting manufacturing costs in models by 50%. Tesla recently announced the next generation will start at $25,000. The average cost of an EV in the U.S. at the end of 2022 was $61,488.
Falling prices for lithium and other battery materials are making electric vehicles cheaper. With even more savings through state, city or utility company rebates opening up a larger scope of socioeconomical classes to the party. More and more EV’s are making the list for the tax credit some qualifying for partial credit. Manufacturers are starting to make the drive range longer for the newer versions which is more enticing for future buyers. By the end of this year, according to Kelly Blue Book, there will be 16 new models arriving for purchase. Projections of up to 134 EV models will be in production by 2024.
