Lenox Square Hosts Successful APD Recruitment Event

 In Community, Safety

On Saturday, March 19, the Atlanta Police Department held a highly successful recruitment event at Lenox Square – the first time the Buckhead landmark has played host to such an event. Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and Deputy Chief Darin Schierbaum stopped by to greet more than 70 potential recruits who turned out in record numbers. An uptick of applications following the event puts APD closer to fulfilling Mayor Dickens’ promise to hire 250 new police officers this year.

“There’s nothing like Lenox Square Mall in the whole region. Everyone knows about it and people feel comfortable coming here”, said Mayor Dickens in a video posted to Lenox Square’s Instagram. “So this is a place to make sure people get their start on a new career by coming here first. This is a quality environment, and we know that the people of Buckhead and at Lenox Square are very interested in public safety and being good community citizens. So I’m excited.”

In addition to the recruitment activities, the APD engaged Lenox Square shoppers with its impressive, mounted patrol, cutting-edge SWAT vehicles and nimble Segway and bike patrol teams.
