Weekend Warrior: Peachtree Creek Greenway

September 13, 2020

Weekends are for greenspace! We encourage our participants to visit a local park, trail or greenspace and just get outside over the the weekend. There’s no requirement on the park that you visit. Each week participants will have an opportunity to earn 75 points for visiting a new local park or trail during the challenge.

Interested in learning about new parks to explore? Livable Buckhead has joined forces with REI and 9 other organizations to encourage Metro Atlanta residents to get outside and visit a local park by participating in a separate challenge called Hikes For Health.

This weekend heck out the Peachtree Creek Greenway. Peachtree Creek Greenway is a multi-use path connecting all communities along North Fork Peachtree Creek. Our mission is to promote the Peachtree Creek Greenway in Atlanta, Brookhaven, Chamblee, Dekalb County and Doraville. The Greenway is open in Brookhaven! With your support, the PCG will ultimately run from Doraville to the Atlanta Beltline!

Peachtree Creek is a major stream in Atlanta.  Its two major tributaries are North Fork Peachtree Creek and South Fork Peachtree Creek. The northern fork begins at the edge of Gwinnett County and flows 13.5 miles (21.7 km)[1]  southwest, almost perfectly parallel to Interstate 85 through DeKalb County. The southern fork, 15.4 miles (24.8 km) long,[1]  begins in Tucker and flows south then west. The North Fork and South Fork confluence occurs where Interstate 85 meets Georgia 400. It then flows for 7.5 miles (12.1 km)[1] almost due west into the Chattahoochee River just south of Vinings.
