DESCRIPTION:Date: March 2 \nTime: 10am – 12pm \nDescription: This waterway cleanup event provides an opportunity to get involved with your community and be an environmental steward. \nPurpose: Community involvement & environmental stewardship. In 2023\, more than 50 volunteers collected hundreds of pound of trash\, making a difference in the natural habitat around this environmentally sensitive detention pond\, filled with native wildlife. \nRole: We will be removing debris from the pond along PATH400\, as well as clearing the surrounding area. No previous experience is necessary and it should be a fun and rewarding morning\, making a tangible difference. \nVibe: Have fun and learn about the native environment \nLocation: Peachtree Park Neighborhood Entrance to PATH400 (3399 Peachtree Dr NE\, Atlanta\, GA 30305) \n\nAdditional Information: No previous experience is necessary\, just a willingness to pitch in\, get a little dirty\, and have some fun making a tangible difference in the area. \nParking: Free parking is available along the neighborhood streets next to PATH400 (address above). Please do not block any driveways. The Lenox MARTA station is a quick walk to the volunteer location as well. \nWhat to Bring With You: \n\nAppropriate Clothing: Please ensure you are wearing clothing that can get dirty and closed toed shoes. We will be providing our volunteers with waders\, for those who would like to clean inside the pond.\nWater Bottle: We ask our participants to please supply their own water.\n\n(Optional) Kayak: if you are an adept kayaker with your own equipment and would like to get out on the water to clean up trash in the interior of the pond\, please let us know and we can make arrangements.

The link will remain open for the General Board Meeting (First Tuesday of month) that begins at 7:00 pm.\n\nRegister in advance for this meeting.\n\nAfter registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. \nABOUT NPU-B \nNeighborhood Planning Units (NPUs) are citizen advisory councils that make recommendations to the Mayor and City Council on zoning\, land-use\, licensing\, and other planning issues. \nThe NPU system was established in 1974 by Mayor Maynard Jackson to provide an opportunity for citizens to participate actively in the Comprehensive Development Plan\, which is the City’s vision for the next 5\, 10\, and 15 years. It is also used as a way for the citizens to receive information concerning all functions of City government. The system enables the citizens to express ideas and comment on City plans and proposals while assisting the City in developing plans which best meet the needs of different areas. \nMembership is open to anyone 18 years or older whose primary residence is within the NPU\, as well as to any corporation\, organization\, institution\, or agency which owns property or has a place of business within the NPU. \nThe NPU has 3 different committees\, zoning\, development & transportation\, and public safety\, which make recommendations to the City Council for review. \nNPU-B\nNPU-B is one of 25 Neighborhood Planning Units established by the city of Atlanta to: \n\nAllow citizen input on community issues involving zoning\, development infrastructure\, crime\, and delivery of city services;\nDistribute information and facilitate communication between citizens\, their representatives and various city departments;\nMake recommendations on Variance Applications to the Board of Zoning Adjustment (BZA) for final decision;\nMake recommendations on Zoning Applications and Special Use Applications to the Zoning Review Board (ZRB) which sends their recommendations to City Council for final decision;\nMake recommendations on Subdivision Applications to the Subdivision Review Committee\, Office of Planning; and\nMake recommendations to the Office of Planning and City Council on Applications that would change the Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP).\n\nAtlanta citizens living or working in NPU-B are eligible to serve on the Board of Representatives. Join us as Livable Buckhead’s executive director\, Denise Starling\, gives you a personal\, behind-the-scenes tour of how this multi-purpose greenway is being created. \nThis is an active construction site\, so you are required to wear closed toe shoes (preferably boots)\, preferably long pants\, a hard hat (to be provided)\, be physically able to do some climbing\, and sign a waiver before the tour begins. Space is limited to 20 people. \nAbout PATH400: PATH400 is a 5.2-mile walkable\, bikeable greenway being constructed on public land adjacent to GA 400 extending from the bank of Peachtree Creek northward toward the northern edge of Atlanta. It is the centerpiece of a broader greenspace plan\, the Buckhead Collection\, initiated by Atlanta Councilman Howard Shook. Livable Buckhead is spearheading the PATH400 project in partnership with the Buckhead Community Improvement District (Buckhead CID) and the PATH Foundation. Several other agencies and organizations are involved in the development of PATH400\, including Georgia Department of Transportation\, the City of Atlanta\, MARTA\, Atlanta Neighborhood Planning Unit B\, and Atlanta Public Schools. PATH400 will increase access to community amenities such as arts\, historic\, and cultural exhibits; neighborhood pocket parks and greenspaces; retail centers; and learning centers. Big Peach Ride + Run and Propel ATL will lead a 6-mile social ride along Buckhead’s PATH400. This is a great opportunity to meet the local biking community and celebrate the connections along PATH400! Livable Buckhead’s executive director\, Denise Starling\, will be present to provide construction updates and future connections along PATH400. \n\nWe will finish our ride at Eclipse di Luna with food and drink specials!\nWater stations will be located along the ride.\nParking? DESCRIPTION:Livable Buckhead and the Buckhead community has created the best running club in the city. This run club is open to all levels. Run\, walk or even cartwheel – we just want to see you out on PATH400! The Buckhead Run + Walk Club is a great opportunity to get into a weekly running routine or simply enjoy the safety of a group run\, join us every Tuesday at 6:00pm at Citizens Market/Phipps Plaza (3500 Peachtree Road NE Atlanta GA 30326) for this weekly run. \nGuidelines: \n\nMeet outside at Citizens Market in Phipps Plaza.\nWaters will be available as needed.\nALL paces welcome – runners & walkers.\nRoutes will be available for 2 or 3 mile workouts.\n\nThis is meant to be a fun\, enjoyable\, relaxing\, safe experience and to help make us all feel part of a run family again. \n\n\n\n\nPlease fill out the following release form to participate in the Buckhead Run + Walk Club. It is also used as a way for the citizens to receive information concerning all functions of City government. The system enables the citizens to express ideas and comment on City plans and proposals while assisting the City in developing plans which best meet the needs of different areas. \nMembership is open to anyone 18 years or older whose primary residence is within the NPU\, as well as to any corporation\, organization\, institution\, or agency which owns property or has a place of business within the NPU. \nThe NPU has 3 different committees\, zoning\, development & transportation\, and public safety\, which make recommendations to the City Council for review. \nNPU-B is one of 25 Neighborhood Planning Units established by the city of Atlanta to: \n\nAllow citizen input on community issues involving zoning\, development infrastructure\, crime\, and delivery of city services;\nDistribute information and facilitate communication between citizens\, their representatives and various city departments;\nMake recommendations on Variance Applications to the Board of Zoning Adjustment (BZA) for final decision;\nMake recommendations on Zoning Applications and Special Use Applications to the Zoning Review Board (ZRB) which sends their recommendations to City Council for final decision;\nMake recommendations on Subdivision Applications to the Subdivision Review Committee\, Office of Planning; and\nMake recommendations to the Office of Planning and City Council on Applications that would change the Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP).\n\nAtlanta citizens living or working in NPU-B are eligible to serve on the Board of Representatives.
